A Journey of Resilience
JOTSY HERNANDEZ
Jotsy is a courageous woman who faced breast cancer not once, not twice, but three times and continues to persevere with unwavering determination.
Jotsy’s journey began in 2021, shortly after recovering from COVID-19. She discovered a lump in her right breast and received a devastating diagnosis. With two young daughters depending on her, she made the decision to fight with all her strength. Her daughters became her reason to keep going, even when the road ahead seemed impossible.
Financial barriers made Jotsy’s journey especially difficult. As a public employee, her income wasn’t enough to cover the high costs of treatment. Undeterred, she took action—organizing raffles, selling food, and seeking support wherever she could. Her determination, paired with the generosity of kind-hearted individuals, allowed her to complete her treatment, undergo surgery, and even tackle radiotherapy.
By August 2022, Jotsy had overcome her first diagnosis. But her battle was far from over.
In June 2023, during a routine check-up, she learned of another tumor in her muscle. Once again, she began chemotherapy, funding her treatments through community support and sheer grit. Out of the 18 planned cycles, she could only complete nine as the treatment began to affect her heart. Despite the challenges, Jotsy never gave up.
Months later, a tumor was discovered behind her sternum. Overwhelmed and unsure of how to proceed, Jotsy turned to her faith and her family. Her daughters’ encouragement—“Mom, we can get through this like we always do”—gave her the strength to continue. She knew she needed a PET-CT scan to determine her next steps, but the financial burden seemed insurmountable.
Through a connection with Mario Parotto, one of our official fashion designers, and Tony, his husband & talented makeup artist, Jotsy was introduced to our foundation. With our support, she was able to afford the PET-CT scan she urgently needed.
“Sipping PositiviTEA came into my life at the moment I needed it most.
Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to get the test done. I thank God, Tony, and Mario for guiding me to the foundation. I will always be eternally grateful."

Today, Jotsy continues her journey with resilience and hope. Her experience has taught her the importance of self-love, mental well-being, and cherishing every moment with her family. She encourages others to approach their battles with positivity and faith, reminding them to focus on what truly matters and to take life one day at a time.
